Hotels in Reading range from small guest houses right up to well known star-rated business hotels. Many are located in the town centre with easy access to the railway station. Also, you can find hotels with lots of character in the nearby villages.

The lowest price you can expect to pay is around £35 per night for a room in a guest house and up to £75 and over for a room in a large hotel.

Reading town centre is surrounded by an orbital road and most hotels in this area will be within easy walking distance of the station. Hotels outside this area are a short taxi ride away via the various bridges crossing the orbital road.

Staying in a town centre hotel has the advantage of easy access to the numerous shops, bars and restaurants. The Oracle is the major shopping Mall which contains many cloths shops, department stores and eating places.

Heading from the railway station towards the shopping area, you will come across Friar street which has some interesting bars and eating places. Then there is broad street which contains many well known shops and department stores. And near to this is the Oracle shopping centre.

As you proceed down Broad Street, you will find the Broad Street Mall, which was the main shopping Mall before the Oracle was built, and near to here is market area.

A small river (the Kennet) flows through the town and you can see this in the area of the Oracle.

If coming by road, you can reach reach reading on the M4 from London or the West. By air, there is a coach service from Heathrow Airport to Reading Station called Rail Air.
